PAINFUL RUN
It was warm outside when I began my long 10 mile run. I felt confident, but when I started looking at the hills that I was running down, I knew I'd have to take them going the other way on the run back. As I got going, I was already sweating and my mouth started to get very dry.
The last time I ran long, it was cold and I didn't feel thirsty at all. This time was different. The sun was shining and it was hitting me pretty good the entire time. I tried to run in the shade, but there were hills that made me tired and made me sweat. It didn't really matter that I was in the shade.
I finally got to the halfway point and walked to the school that had a park next to it. I was already very thirsty and I felt tired too. I decided to just walk back down to where I stopped and started to run again. But again, I was very thirsty and felt tired. So I stopped by Walnut High School for another drink. I felt like drinking a lot of water but I knew that it would only hurt me more on the way back. I was running weakly and nearly hurt myself when I tripped over a half-inch rise on the concrete. Luckily, I fell slowly and it wasn't bad at all. Only the palms of my hands got scuffed but it was hardly anything.
As I reached the Valley/Grand corner, I stopped again at CVS looking for a drinking fountain. There wasn't one. So I decided to just jog to DB Golf Course since I knew there was one there. My feet were aching and every step was painful. I drank a lot of water and decided to just walk the rest of the way back. It was painful and my feet were killing me.
When I got home, I iced them and that seemed to help a lot. I limped around all night and just rested, trying to rehydrate as much as possible. I'm a little worried about next Sunday, but I'm pretty sure I can make it through.
