I'M &$%#@* 40!

They say that age is just a number, but I don't think it's true. Our age definitely determines a lot of things like when we can drive, when we can vote and when we can drink among other things.

I'm probably the most fit I've been in my life and most likely in the best shape physically (except for my Buddha belly). I think what happens is that when you get older, you start exercising more to stay in shape whereas when you're younger, you don't have to. You can eat crap and not exercise and your body maintains its shape in your youth. Too bad that doesn't happen when you're older.

Luckily for me, everyone thinks I look much younger than I am and that tends to fool a lot of people. On the one hand, everyone thinks I'm in my 20s but on the same hand, they treat me like I'm in my 20s. It's an odd thing and you begin to see what stereotypes are all about. It's kind of like when Tyra wore that fat suit and everyone stared at her and she cried. That was bullshit, I know, but you know what I'm saying.

I see this kind of stereotyping not just because of how I look but because of the work I do right now. As an extra, you see that people are cast for parts that "fit" their look. I understand this because you can't cast a person that looks like a witch as a hero. I mean, you can, but not in a picture like Star Wars. You need someone that looks like Luke Skywalker and of course you need someone that looks like Darth Vader. There's something about storytelling that requires this.

However, I love films that break that mold and challenge the assumptions we have about our lives. One of these days, I'd like to make this kind of film. It all starts with a script so that will be the first goal. Unfortunately, I've thought about this for about ten years now.
