THINK LIKE A MAN
I was booked as a waiter for this movie that shot at LA Live. It was a little tough finding where base camp was, but I finally found my way after seeing a PA direct some people.
After everyone checked in with wardrobe, we were moved upstairs to a large convention room right next to where the scene was going to be shot. It's a black movie because the director is black and all the stars are black. In the scene, the black guy in the movie is a waiter who sees his girl making some kind of speech for Ebony magazine and tries to duck out so she doesn't see him. But when he does, all kinds of dishes go flying and he is caught.
It was pretty cool to see the stunt and the fake dishes, but it was a pain having to carry all the plates as a waiter. I got my shoulder workout in, that's for sure.
Oddly, lunch was not provided even though we were shooting on location. Everyone kind of wondered how this could be since no one ever experienced this. Everything was expensive, so I took off to see if I could find some cheap eats. Luckily, a taco truck had just set-up right across the street so I bought myself a $5 burrito which was pretty damn good.
Then I changed into a suit and we shot another scene where the two lovers were talking in a bar/lounge. After this scene, we were wrapped and the good news was that there wasn't a lot of traffic back home since it was around 7:30PM by the time we rolled out.
