Today was all about catching up with the movies I requested from Netflix. First up was Doctor Zhivago. It's a classic love story that made me weep like a little bitch. It captures the tumultuous period of the Russian Revolution and some people caught up in it. It's like some break-ups - horribly sad, but the future also brings hope. There are a few things that are worth mentioning. First, some memorable quotes:
"You, my dear, are a slut."
- Victor Komarovsky
"If our time is limited, we should live it."(paraphrased)
- Yuri Zhivago
In the commentary track by Omar Sharif, he says that the movie is essentially a composition of fate. This point is interesting because of what I watched next.
I watched Andy Andrews' Seven Decisions. He suggests there are seven decisions one must make in order to achieve one's goals. He discusses an interesting idea that all our actions and decisions have some kind of effect on the world. Therefore, because we are still on this earth, we have yet to fulfill what we are practically destined to do.
I am beginning to believe more and more, as I've discussed in other postings, that our lives may be pre-determined. When you have this idea in mind, it's easy not to fear anything. Your life, it can be argued, is not in your own hands.
