JUST ONE MORE DAY TILL EDC

I'm nervous about EDC for some reason.  Part of it is having to pack, part of it is having to drive and part of it is the marathon partying I know I'm going to experience.  It's not like it's a bad thing.

Anyway, I spent most of the day just chillin'.  Then I finally got off my butt and posted my ride on Zimride to see if anyone would pay me to drive them to Vegas since I'm already going out there.

Took a shower after dinner, shaved my nuts and packed.  I think I'll pretty much wear the same shit I wore to Coachella.

GOODWILL, SEARS AND NORDSTROM RACK

I had a few things to do today.

Went to post office to mail T. Chit the pictures on a dvd.

Drove to Sears to try to return shorts with a hole, but there weren't any more shorts, so I just bought two shirts instead.

Next door was Nordstrom Rack, so I bought some shoes.  Madden topsider style.

Then I went to Goodwill to return the pants I wore at the party.  They were too small anyway (in the waist).  I bought a Cal shirt and was refunded the pants money.

When I got back home, I watched the Kings first period.  Then I ran for 15 minutes.  Then I watched the rest of the game.  It was exciting.  But they lost 3-1.  And I lost my bet.  Once again, on a losing streak.

Got on the computer and finished flashing the HTC.  The style is pretty cool, but my goal is a longer battery life.  We'll see how it goes.

TEENY TINY WORKOUT

The goal today was to clean-up the trunk of my car while doing a little workout.  The trunk was easier than I thought and my workout was just a way to get back into the physical act of working out.  The weights felt pretty heavy (20 lbs) in my hands and I've noticed that my elbows feel achy.  That's not a good feeling and I think it's either from golf or I'm just old.

Later in the evening, Jared called me.  He likes to start off with small chat, then I kind of got on him about rooting.  He said I needed to look stuff up but I was telling him, man, you had your teacher right in front of you.  You could have asked him how to do it.  So I ended up having to look up some dummies guides to figure out how to unlock the HTC Evo Shirl gave me.

But then I heard Jared badmouth his mom when she came storming into the room accusing him of doing something illegal.  "You're fucking crazy," he said.  That set me off.  I can't stand it when he talks to his mother that way.  He says it's because he has to stand-up for himself, that no one knows what it's like to live with her.  We just kept going around in circles and he finally had it.  We got off the phone and I felt very unsatisfied.

So I just continued to work on unlocking my phone and after a few hours, it was done.  Much easier than I thought, but just took time to follow the directions.  It's unnerving because you don't want to brick the phone, so you make sure to follow ever step.  But in the end, it was pretty easy.

HAIRCUT AND OTHERS

I went to Pomona to get a haircut from the usual Venus barber and hair salon.  But it was closed.  So I went to a different joint, El Sol and man, I don't think I'll be going back to Venus.  The guy Josh who gave me a cut was cool and there was a lot of attention to detail.  I'll definitely be going back.  All for $7 too!

I also went to K-mart to do some shopping.  Just bought some vacuum bags (type Z), coffee filters and mouth wash.  I had a coupon for Listerine, but damn, that shit is too expensive.  I went with the K-mart brand.

Didn't do much getting home.  I did make some kimchi from a recipe I found online.  We'll see how it turns out.  I didn't add everything that was in the recipe.  Next time I'll probably add some radish, but the shrimp was a little too much.  I'll probably be giving some of this to Janet, so I didn't want her to trip out.

DIARRHEA THE DAY AFTER

I spent most of the day relaxing because of the nagging feeling of being not exactly hungover.  K. Bill and A. Carole came through to pick some stuff up that moms brought back from the Philippines.

I pooped most of the day and it was good to get everything out.

I felt good enough to run a brisk nine minute mile.  To maintain this pace, I'll need to basically keep running nearly a full run the entire time.  I think I can do it but it's not going to be easy.  I don't see how Vanessa does it, but I guess she's built up to it over time.

RON'S 60TH RETRO BIRTHDAY PARTY

It was time to party at Ron and Tina's out in the valley again.  I hadn't been there since Tina's birthday party where I met Lori and Jennifer.  But nothing ever materialized with those chicks, some of it probably my fault.  You gotta be a go-getter with chicks.  They have to know you are interested.  Me, I kind of lay real low.  That works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't.  Well, most of the time it doesn't.

Prior to the party, I went to Goodwill to purchase a sports jacket, some pants and a scarf.  I was trying to pull off the old Hollywood 60s producer kind of look.  Here's what I envisioned.

Now if I only had a scanner, I'd scan what I ended up looking like.  So I'll have to return to this someday.

Anyway, the party was really fun.  It was the usual suspects.  Bill, Zita, Aunt Pat, Kimi and our new party friend Kelly.  The only people that were missing were Jerry and Julliette.  I guess things aren't going that well for them after all.

The party started with lots of appetizers, then it went to bbq and then some dancing and music from the sixties and ended with electronic music.  All-in-all, too much to drink and I got home around 2am.

SWIMMING AT K. NOEL'S

We headed out to K. Noel's for some fun in the sun.  It was hot out and I wanted to work on my tan for EDC. I did and didn't really get a chance to swim.  But everyone else did.

Then we played ping pong and ate burgers and dogs.  T. Berting was around too as he spent the morning working on replacing his brakes.

Finally met Jared's new girl Jessica.  She's cool.

Played some mah jong at night and then we went home.  Lia and I played some backgammon before going to bed.

Wanted to get a poker game on, but there just wasn't enough interest.
