SWEET TALKING CUSTOMER SERVICE
I returned the car this morning and didn't bother to check all the nooks and crannies to make sure there wasn't anything left. It turned out moms had left her sun glasses inside so I had to go back to retrieve them in the afternoon. I deposited my check for Think Like a Man, and looked at the receipt from Enterprise and couldn't figure out why it was high. So I called them when I got back and asked and it turned out they charged me for coverage. I declined the coverage so they had to credit it back. That's customer service issue #1 resolved.
I also had to figure out why I couldn't log into the CalJobs website. It turns out something is wrong with it so I was given my log-in and password over the phone. I had to create a resume on the site just so I would continue to receive unemployment insurance. Otherwise, there was a possibility my claim could be affected. I think it's just a scare tactic, but who knows?
Moms put out some processed boneless chicken shaped like wings for lunch. Kylie and I ate it, but Karina was picky and didn't like the spongy texture. So she didn't eat. It's things like this that bug me, but what can I do? She is who she is.
Then I called State Farm to request the loss of rent claim. Demion no longer handled my account and it was back to Bess Ng. So I left her a message about that. She called back later in the afternoon to say she would approve the claim and that a check was being mailed today. that's customer service issue #2 resolved.
I also called Sprint to see if I could get them to waive the overage fees this past month. We were over by $178 so I asked what they were. It turns out all the calls and texts I sent during the Pomona duplex flooding pushed us way over. The first customer service agent I was connected to was the Philippines. She said she could only do 40% but I asked if she could do more. But then we got disconnected.
So I tried calling again to see if I could get an American agent. My experience with them is that they usually waived the overage when I asked. But this agent would only do 30% even though I got 40% from the Filipino. After a long wait, she said she could do 40% after all.
But then the Filipino called back while I was put on hold by the American agent. I told her she approved 40% but that was it. The Filipino agent said she was successful with escalating the call and could waive all overage fees as long as we went to the $99 plan that gives us unlimited text on both phones and 1500 total minutes. I swear, they are pretty damn good at squeezing out more and more money each month. But that was customer service issue #3 resolved.
All in all, a pretty satisfying day. I also cooked some dinner by slow cooking some neck bones at about 280 degrees for about two hours. I covered it with foil and basted it from time to time to try to keep it moist. Near the end, I increased the temperature to 350 and put on the final basting. It caramelized nicely but it wasn't as flavorful as I hoped it would be. The Mama Sita's bbq is too watered down to achieve the kind of flavor I want. I'll need to work on my own.
