OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW

I thought about describing what recently happened with my immediate family this holiday season, but rather than doing that, I felt it's best to leave that in the past and move on with the future. Why dwell on something bad that happened? It's the new year and it's time to move on and hope for better things rather than regret the past.

So one of my resolutions this year is to get back to writing this blog. I will attempt to write one entry for every day of 2011. I may fail, I may cheat, but it's the journey that counts right?

Another resolution I have this year is to run a half marathon. I met up with my old friend and former college roommate Todd during Christmas vacation and he gave me really great encouragement. I thought about doing a marathon, but I figured it's probably good to train for something smaller this year. I've heard of people not training properly and dying when running their first marathon. I don't think that would happen, but since I don't have health insurance, I don't really have access to a health care provider who could test me and let me know if I should worry about anything. I figured I'd just be extra careful and not push it.

Unlike some things in life, running a half marathon is already totally possible in my mind. I just know I have to train. Other things in life seem much more difficult to me such as finding a career I can care about that is fulfilling, or even getting a decent job that provides more income. I know that doing something very difficult can help open your mind to doing other difficult things, so let's see what happens. I've done a triathlon before, but I don't know - I don't think that really helped me much with what I can achieve. Let's see if this does.
