DR. ANDREW WEIL

Weil is kind of a hippie with a full beard, a bald head and a healthy glow about him. Heck, he'd make a pretty good Santa Claus. Here's his 12 point plan for healthy aging.

  1. Eat an anti-inflammatory diet
  2. Use a dietary supplement wisely
  3. Use preventive medicine wisely
  4. Get regular physical activity
  5. Get adequate rest and sleep
  6. Practice some form of stress management
  7. Exercise your mind
  8. Stay connected socially and intellectually
  9. Remain flexible in mind and body
  10. Discover the benefits of aging
  11. Do not try to deny aging
  12. Think about your legacy
One interesting point he makes is that it is good to try to consume as much organic fruits and vegetables as possible. The reason it's so good for you is that they have higher levels of certain vitamins. For example, organic tomatoes have higher levels of lycopine because when grown organically, the tomatoes need them to ward off insects and pests.
